Welcome to the ARHS Student/Community Forum on Re-Accreditation!

In 2012,  Amherst Regional High School (ARHS)  is due for re-accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)  http://cpss.neasc.org.  The 2010-2011 school year will be one of self-study, in which we examine how well we are achieving our school mission.  The process begins this year with the school community developing a list of our Learning Expectations for students and a statement of our Core Values and Beliefs.  The faculty has begun the process by examining our day-to-day experience in the classroom and extrapolating the common Learning Expectations that underlie our practice.  Below is a draft of our Learning Expectations.  We will finalize these later this year and draft school-wide analytic rubrics that we will use to measure students’ progress in each area.  With this document we reach out to students and the broader school community to solicit your thinking.

To help us gather data on the relation of these Learning Expectations to current practice, please visit each of  the below posts which present a learning expectation and one question for students and another for community members.   There are eleven learning expectations in all, and there is a final post which provides an opportunity for you to comment on the Learning Expectations in general.

The process of gathering your input is also available via a hard copy questionnaire which is being sent as an insert in the Hurricane Highlights newsletter.  Please feel free to respond in either format.

To provide some background on the NEASC process, we are also including a  PowerPoint slide presentation from a faculty meeting.  You may click on the image of the first slide to view this presentation.

If you have thoughts or suggestions about the re-accreditation process, please contact the chairs of the NEASC Steering Committee.  You may link to our names and email addresses by clicking on “About”  at the top of  this page.

Thank you for your time and thoughtful input into the development of our Learning Expectations.
